Fiery Quincy Nebula

Best in Show and People's Choice award winner, Art Works Northwest Member Show 2026. This portrait of Quincy was a practice in using a fabric-forward approach to portrait collage. In a fabric-forward approach I use the patterns on the fabric to guide the portrait. It's a looser approach that allows for an interplay of pattern, color, and style to shape the final portrait. What felt initially like a mistake, the depth of contrast on the left hand side, became a favorite feature.
